Earthquakes! Questions 1-4

1. The most earthquakes tend to happen is in California, Alaska, and japan. This is why because they have faults in the earth and the earth shifts over in that area.

People would in fact feel this earthquake because of the countries movement.
The earthquakes compared to a 1. magnitude is about three or two times more powerful.
The magnitude is two times more powerful then a .1 magnitude.

5.On January 17, 2009 their was a earthquake with a 5.8 magnitude. It was located in Chiapas, Mexico (15.805°N, 92.482°W) It also had a depth of 176km. This earthquake was strong so many many people felt it. It is very common to have earthquakes in this part of the world cause that is where most do.















There are many ways to protect your self from earthquakes, like having a plan if it does happen where you should go or something. The safest place to stay when an earthquake hits is by something sturdy like the basement by a pipe line. Stay away from windows, mirrors, or any glass or any thing that brakes. Possibly hind under a table or desk if sturdy. Blankets and pillows may help from something shattering on you. Lastly always be aware of your surroundings.
